Panda Express is a chinese restaurant in High Point, North Carolina. It is listed at 2406 N Main St, High Point, NC 27262, which places it among the local businesses of High Point that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian restaurant, caterer, chinese noodle restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in High Point; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 9:30 am–11 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (336) 740-9686. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, pandaexpress.com.
Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 446 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
High Point is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around High Point is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The parking lot and building are easy to find, and once you walk inside, the whole place was fairly clean and looked sharp. I gave the atmosphere and service a solid 5 stars. These areas were spot on. However, there was only one person working the counter, so I had to wait a bit while she was multitasking, but she was polite and friendly when she got to me. The food line, though, was a different story and only gets 3 stars. I walked in around 3:50 PM, right in that lull before dinner, and it looked like they just gave up on filling things back up. The containers were picked over and sitting low under the heat lamps. Because the food was running low, it was losing its flavor, so the overall quality was just fair. I spent a total of $15.69 with tax for a two-item plate (orange chicken, broccoli beef, and rice) and two chicken egg rolls. The price is about average for what you get nowadays, but since they’ve cut back on how much they fill the containers, you aren't getting quite as much for your money as you used to. It shouldn’t matter if you walk in during the rush or at 4:00 in the afternoon—the kitchen needs to keep things stocked and fresh for every customer. Giving a 4 or 5 star

I went in for dinner with my family last weekend and had a really nice experience overall. The place had a comfortable atmosphere and the staff was friendly without being over the top. We ordered a few different dishes to share and everything came out pretty quick. The orange chicken had a good balance of sweet and tangy, and the fried rice tasted fresh, not dry like some places make it. Portions were pretty decent too so we even had leftovers to take home. One of the dishes was a little saltier than I usually like, but honestly it wasn't a big deal. I'd definitely come back again and try more things on the menu.

We have eaten here several times and have been pleased with the food. This trip, however, may cause us to hold off on visiting again too soon. We acknowledge that it was busy today, but it seemed that you got faster service if you go through the drive through. All of the tables were dirty. The area where the napkins and forks were was in dire need of attention. One lady brought her pet (not a service animal) into the restaurant and ate her meal with the animal. The gentleman helping us with our order was clearly in a hurry because he kept talking over my husband. On top of everything else we didn't get our fortune cookies this time. (In the grand scheme of things that was the least of our complaints.) We were just disappointed this trip. We don't live close by so if we want hot food we need to eat inside. 🫤

I love Panda Express, but there are a couple of things about the service at this location that I’d like to mention. First, I want to point out that I come from Asheboro; this is the closest store to me (a 25-minute drive), so I have to drive an hour round-trip just to buy food here. The app is supposed to let you order ahead to save time during pickup—and save the employees time on taking the order—but every time I go, my order is never on the designated pickup table. I always end up waiting another 15 minutes until an employee is free, and there are always other people waiting for orders that should have already been on the pickup table. Second, the employees preparing the orders don't get the details right. Imagine wanting to eat in your car but not getting the utensils you specified in the order, or ordering Chow Mein and getting a heap of soggy rice instead. I’m sorry, but they really need to better 🥲

We hadn’t visited Panda Express in quite some time due to underwhelming experiences at other locations. However, a friend recommended that we give the newly opened High Point location a try, and we’re glad we did. The service is excellent and efficient, and the food tastes significantly better than what we remembered from before. The ambiance is pleasant, and despite the slightly awkward shape of the parking lot, it offers ample space. During peak hours, the restaurant can get quite busy. Overall, this High Point Panda Express would be my top recommendation.
